Discover the  “Savoir-Vivre à la Française”

Among the French luxury “know-hows”, we could also give the example of the French “knowing how to live” which caught our attention!

 

French culture is also appreciated for its “art of living” and renowned for the importance of the good manners.

Indeed, the country has its own specific good manners. Many foreign people are passionate about French “art de vivre”. For them, it’s a myth, a kind of legend of the elegancy. There are the good French attitudes to respect, the French savoir-vivre with its rules, its codes and its rituals.

Recently, a new trendy activity has appeared: for tourists, it’s now possible to learn the French good manners in Versailles. These ways of being and behaviours were born in Versailles with the Court of Louis XIV.

In Versailles, cradle of the art of living, a French woman (named France de Heere) had the idea to create a workshop. It is organized to make tourists and French discover and teach them all these manners, all these details that have made this reputation, this legend of French refinement and luxury. And the idea works very well! There are many applications, foreign or French participants!

- Knowing how to prepare a dinner table (with artistic details and silverware)

- Knowing how to behave, how to act during a dinner or an appointment

- Wrong things/ right things to do

- “Hand kissing” / The “Baise-main” rules

-  Being polite by learning “La politesse”

- Learning the good expressions of language to use and the rules of courtesy
